Steps To Getting Started

Step 1: Schedule a Call – First Meeting!

  • This 30-minute virtual call will give us both a chance to get to know each other and to make sure your situation matches our expertise.
  • The purpose of this call is to get crystal clear on your financial goals, needs, and concerns.
  •  If we aren’t a good fit for your situation, we will gladly introduce you to a firm who is better suited to your needs.  

Step 2: Our Analysis

Your financial assessment will be guided by your answers to our questions, along with the documents you provide. Our team will apply thousands of hours of training combined with our experience to answer your most important questions as well as 3 critical questions:

  1. Are you on track to reach your goals?
  2. Do you have any potential financial blind spots?
  3. How can your investments be improved and your tax bill be reduced?

Step 3: Assessment Review – Second Meeting!

  • With your Financial Assessment complete, we will have a second meeting (in person or virtually via Zoom) to review our analysis and recommendations.
  • We will explain exactly what you can do to improve your financial plan and we will leave plenty of time for you to ask questions.
  • If you like the plan from our assessment and are ready to get started, we can formalize our partnership at the end of this meeting. Or if you still aren’t sure, you can take some time to think things over.   

Step 4: Sleep On It

 We are looking to form long-term client relationships and we want you to feel completely comfortable with your decision to partner with our firm.  It’s important that you take as much time as needed to make a decision.

To help you make a smart decision, consider the following questions:

  1. Do I like, trust and respect the Aquilo Private Wealth Advisors team?
  2. Will the benefits they provide exceed the cost?
  3. Do I understand and agree with their investment philosophy?
  4. Do their financial planning recommendations make sense to me?

We will follow-up within a couple days to determine how you would like to move forward.

If you decide that we aren’t a good fit for your needs, we will not take it personally. In fact, we will wish you the best and help you find someone who might be a better fit. There is never a hard-sell or pressure to say yes.

Step 5: Let’s Begin – Third Meeting

We are truly honored to be working with you and your family. Before we begin, we will regroup(via zoom or in-person) to answer any outstanding questions and review our next steps going forward in our new client process.

1. Can You Meet Virtually and Work With People in Other States?
YES! While many of our clients live in the Washington DC metro area, we work with client all over the United States.  Our firm is equipped to meet with client sand potential client though the video conferencing software, Zoom.  We take your security very seriously and each virtual meeting is encrypted by a complex, unique password and we adhere to strict guidelines to protect your privacy.  
2. Do You Offer an Hourly or One-Time Project Fee Option?
We do our best work with families looking for a long-term relationship. Currently, our firm is not equipped to offer an hourly fee or one-time project option.
3. Would I Have Digital Access at my Convenience to Information on my Accounts and Our Financial Plans
Yes! We provide our clients with a Personal Digital Wealth Dashboard as their financial hub where they can view all their financial accounts. This allows for them to view their whole financial picture in one central location at their convenience
4. How are You Different Than Other Financial Advisors?

5. How Do You Integrate Tax Planning and Strategies From my Account? Does Your Team Have Tax Expertise That is Available to me, or Do You Prefer to Work Directly With my Own Tax Advisor?
Our firm works closely with our client’s tax advisors to utilize unique and appropriate strategies to help reduce their tax burden. Our philosophy is everyone should pay the tax bill they owe, however we would prefer our clients don’t leave the IRS a tip. By working with our client’s tax advisor or by introducing one to them, we collaborate with our client and the tax advisor to implement strategies that uniquely adhere to achieving our client’s goals.    
6. Are You Able to Assist me With Any of the Following: Philanthropic Strategy, Family Dynamics, Closely-Held Business Exits, Estate Planning? And if so, What is your Preferred Approach.
